    Christmas & China…

What a globalisation idea by these people – buy four and get one free. This Darjeeling Castleton tea pack caught Vincent’s attention in Hangzhou last week and I wish to work on this thru Xu Jie, my chocolate lao shi, who told me that Jia Sheng tea company on Yan’an Road, sells this in World Tea store of Hangzhou.

Lack of knowledge makes them equate Castleton with Goomtee, an anamoly which we should get rectified for the benefit of everyone.

    Finally CTC in China…

At last Ms. Xiao has brought out a one kilo regular pouch pack for milk tea. Beijing is going to enjoy CTC now and we wish to add masala to it to ward off bitter winter winds and cold there in China.

Crowds are thinning everywhere. Lydia attended Guangzhou, whereas Linda attended Yiwu. Recession is touching everything. This november 2008 tea expo session has not been good anywhere.

  • Tea leaves for houseplants ….. was Another advantage of drinking tea.

Is it proven that tea leaves help plants grow?

    This is great!

Proven, as in scientifically tested by some university’s AG dept? No idea. But while tea leaves are good for some plants, the technique does not necessarily work on every plant under every condition.

    Begonia_Sm

Our begonia, which has been getting a more or less steady diet of tea leaves and leftover tea liquid for almost 15 years, is very large and very healthy, and I’m convinced it’s the tea that did it. When I put tea leaves on the avocado, tho’, the poor tree’s leaves started drooping and dropping. The azaleas perked up after mulching with tea leaves, but the same leaves almost killed the jasmine.

Might have something to do with the acid/alkaline requirements of each plant. Might be something else again.

Another point to consider is that in some environments the damp leaves will mildew and mould, which is not healthy for either the plant or for the people and animals in the household.

If tea works on your plants, by all means use it! But watch your plants’ reactions, and discontinue if it appears to be doing more harm than good.

    Sunshine in Hangzhou…

    633401527060156250

Zi li geng sheng, jian ku fen dou…

    00221917f7600a7d517b1a

When China was libertated, it was in very poor condition. The economics was completely destoyed, besides, captalist countries like USA put very very big pressure on this country.

So, at that time, Chairman Mao stood out, and said to his people, don’t be afaid of the difficulties, we must “zi li geng sheng, jian ku fen dou”. We can use our own power to defeat our enemies, we can use our own power to build a great socialist country!

Here, “zi li geng sheng” is “rely on oneself” and “jian ku fen dou” is “work very very very hard”, even in severe conditions.

These two sentence from then on become a golden saying to Chinese people.

In Deng’s time, in “opening up”, China changed from a “closed” country to a “opening up” country, there are many problems in diplomatic affairs, so Deng said we must “du li zi zhu”.

“Du li zi zhu” is used in diplomacy, refers to “be a self-relied country, have the independence of sovereigntity”

Independence is always a important factor in Chinese modern history.

Life is what you make it.
